Outer Space

Just want to settle in the lazy light your phone

Puts on your face you’re replaced the mood it starts to slide

And out the window is a crazy kite you’ve flown

Another loop in the string of things you criticize

Speak of the devil in ecclesiastic tones

I heard your mention, and I wondered where you’d be tonight

They never tell you that a hurry is in due time

And understand you won’t be hearing it from a vine

You can’t be smothered when the fire is on your side

The thrill is out of phase

I read it on your face

Recognize your world

Is spinning in its place

I don’t ever want to save your life again

I hate to meddle, to pry, decry, and hurt your pride

From a shelter in a shady life I bought

Taking for granted these things are easy to decide

You never understand the urgency at the time

They never sell you til you’re already on the ride

Her hair was out of place

And flying around her face

It’s nothing of this world

She’s from outer space

My fear has been displaced

She’s running down my faith

In the good

As I would

Don’t be looking to them for your peace of mind

Cuz they’re gonna be some time

She’s jumping on the gun

And getting in the way

It’s no good
